Affiliate Network Executive Council

FASD United’s Affiliate Network Executive Council (ANEC) is the Affiliate Network’s leadership body that represents Affiliate interests by serving an assigned Affiliate Region. ANEC provides guidance, feedback, and oversight regarding Affiliate Network policies, programs, priorities, strategy, positions, and activities. ANEC aims to reflect, serve, and support the regional, sector, generational, racial/cultural, socioeconomic, and other kinds of diversity within the Affiliate Network.

The FASD United Affiliate Executive Council runs on a calendar year, and term years begin in January of each year. Elections occur in late summer/fall.

Primary Responsibilities of ANEC

  • Represent the perspectives of Affiliates in your region and be dedicated to making progress across your region and across the US
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and oversight regarding Affiliate Network policies, programs, priorities, strategy, positions, and activities
  • Support and serve as a sounding board to the Affiliate Network Director’s planning and coordination of programs, events, and activities
  • Engage with Affiliates (e.g., through a work group, via email, reaching out via Direct Messaging during an Affiliate Network monthly meeting, etc.) and help build community
  • Review applications and vote to approve or reject applications from organizations for Affiliate or Associate status
  • Attend regularly scheduled monthly meetings and Second Fridays.

Leadership

The affiliate network is governed by an 11-15 member Executive Council. All Council members serve 2-year terms. Members may serve as many as 3 consecutive terms. The FASD United representative maintains a permanent seat on the Council. The current leadership is:

ANEC Meetings

ANEC holds a regular monthly meeting on the first Thursday of the month from 4:30- 5:30 pm EST.

Starting in 2027, there will be no ANEC Committees. Instead, the Second Friday from 1- 2 p.m. EST is held for ANEC to work on action items and hold ad hoc discussions. Affiliates are welcome to speak to the Affiliate Director or ANEC members if there is something they would like discussed in a meeting.
