Affiliate Work Groups
The FASD United Affiliate Network shares resources, collaborates on projects, keeps each other informed on news and events, and SO much more. The Work Groups are selected by polling Affiliate interests and needs, and are Affiliate-led. FASD United supports Work Group projects as closely as possible.

Work Groups
The purpose of this work group is to provide clinicians with a deep understanding of brain-based differences (BBDs) to enhance mental health support related to assessment, treatment planning, and service delivery.
Primary Accomplishments:
- Created an on-line website to train mental health clinicians on a brain-based approach to FASD and help clinicians build community.

To deepen Affiliates’ sense of connection and community with each other and provide learning opportunities and resources as we consider what it means to be advocates for access and engagement on behalf of people with FASD, their families, and communities in the broader access and engagement space.
Projects and Work:
- Presented at FASD United’s International Conference on FASD in Seattle in March, 2025: Addressing FASD: Working With and Learning From Indigenous Communities.
- Provided three interactive workshops for the Affiliate Network at the monthly meeting in 2024
- Currently working on a series of mini-module on “widening the circle”

The Connectivity Work Group mission is to cultivate a sense of connection, build community, and promote collaboration within the FASD United Affiliate Network. The Connectivity work group members also moderate the FASD United Affiliate Network Facebook page.
Primary Accomplishments:
- Conducted listening sessions with affiliates to determine strengths and needs within the network
- Guided ANEC on delegating goals from Listening Report
- Moderate FASD United Affiliate Facebook page
- Plan activities at Affiliate Network Meet & Greet at FASD Impact Week in Washington, DC

This Work Group is dependent on Affiliate interest and volunteer co-chairs. Co-chair and member expectations are outlined in the Work Group guidelines below.
Purpose: The Task Forces & Coalitions Work Group connects, strengthens, and grows FASD-focused task forces and coalitions by supporting emerging leaders, advancing sustainability strategies, and building shared tools that strengthen the national FASD movement.

This Work Group is dependent on Affiliate interest and volunteer co-chairs. Co-chair and member expectations are outlined in the Work Group guidelines below.
Purpose: To create a series of 5 – 20 minute mini-modules designed for ‘lunch & learn’-style trainings for specific professionals. The goal is to make professionals “FASD Aware” and direct them to more education, allowing for some “easy wins” in creating new resources for the community. These presentations (slide decks) would be made available to all Affiliates with user guides, with a possible future goal of recording mini-webinars.

Joining a Work Group
- We want all Affiliates, their staff, board, and volunteers to know they are welcome to engage in deeper collaborations within FASD United and the Affiliate Network. Some Affiliates may be able to cover the expense of Affiliate Work Group time, while others are volunteering their time and energy. Work Groups are set up to acknowledge the difference in Affiliate member capacity.
- Work Group participation is a great ramp to join the Affiliate Network Executive Council (ANEC) someday, if that is something that interests you.
- You are always allowed to participate as you are able. If you are interested in a topic, try it out!
