Affiliate Work Groups are opportunities for individual people at Affiliate organizations to collaborate on a larger project with other Affiliates. The Work Groups are selected by polling Affiliate interests and needs, and are Affiliate-led. FASD United supports Work Group projects as much as grant work allows us to. This year, using Affiliate feedback from the January meeting, ANEC selected 2 possible new Work Groups that would allow for a deeper partnership between FASD United and the involved Affiliates.

The purpose of this work group is to provide clinicians with a deep understanding of brain-based differences (BBDs) to enhance mental health support related to assessment, treatment planning, and service delivery.
Projects:
- Created an on-line website to train mental health clinicians on a brain-based approach to FASD and help clinicians build community.

To deepen Affiliates’ sense of connection and community with each other and provide learning opportunities and resources as we consider what it means to be advocates for access and engagement on behalf of people with FASD, their families, and communities in the broader access and engagement space.
Projects and Work:
- Presented at FASD United’s International Conference on FASD in Seattle in March, 2025: Addressing FASD: Working With and Learning From Indigenous Communities.
- Provided three interactive workshops for the Affiliate Network at the monthly meeting in 2024
- Currently working on a series of mini-module on “widening the circle”

The Connectivity Work Group mission is to cultivate a sense of connection, build community, and promote collaboration within the FASD United Affiliate Network. The Connectivity work group members also moderate the FASD United Affiliate Network Facebook page.
Projects:
- Conducted listening sessions with affiliates to determine strengths and needs within the network
- Guided ANEC on delegating goals from Listening Report
- Moderate FASD United Affiliate Facebook page
- Plan activities at Affiliate Network Meet & Greet at FASD Impact Week in Washington, DC

This Work Group is dependent on Affiliate interest and volunteer co-chairs. Co-chair and member expectations are outlined in the Work Group guidelines below.
Purpose: The Task Forces & Coalitions Work Group connects, strengthens, and grows FASD-focused task forces and coalitions by supporting emerging leaders, advancing sustainability strategies, and building shared tools that strengthen the national FASD movement.

Purpose: To create a series of 5 – 20 minute mini-modules designed for ‘lunch & learn’-style trainings for specific professionals. The goal is to make professionals “FASD Aware” and direct them to more education, allowing for some “easy wins” in creating new resources for the community. These presentations (slide decks) would be made available to all Affiliates with user guides, with a possible future goal of recording mini-webinars.
