October, 2025 Meeting: Emerging Research

Our October meeting included some announcements and then featured three Emerging Researchers presentations. These encore presentations were a result of the positive reception they received at our 2025 FASD Impact Week. Thank you to our presenters, and I hope you (fellow Affiliates) enjoyed!
Action Items
- Call for Abstracts Open for 2026 Adolescents & Adults with FASD Conference. Please submit if you participate in research and share with partners who are involved in research! More info here.
- Our education survey is going live on November 3rd. View the results from the last survey here, and keep an eye out on social media and our Weekly Round-Up for its release!
- Send Lay of the Land survey to your community members with FASD! The FASD ALC Changemakers, a group of adult self-advocates, are recruiting survey participants. Let’s help them out!
1. AAP Virtual Learning Collaborative & FASD Champions
Rosa Arvisu from the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) says to contact through the AAP FASD Champions webpage if there is more interest in learning more about the FASD Regional Champions.
2. Misty Pruner – FMF Bridges
As FMF Bridges is not a complete project, we cannot share the slides quite yet. If you would like to learn more or get involved, see the slide below.
3. Beyond Maternal Factors: The Overlooked Role of Fathers in FASD
Researcher Siera Rouzer says, “As my work is yet to reach human populations, I feel the way in which I can be most helpful moving forward is to offer myself as a resource to any professional who wants to better understand and/or educate about the contributions of paternal alcohol exposure to FASD. I truly believe we need to incorporate questions of paternal alcohol history in clinical assessments, and I’m happy to provide any resources or help in developing resources with this goal in mind. Please provide my email address ([email protected]) to anyone who may be interested”.
