Accomplishments of 2024

LEAD: Rachel Sing,

ANEC’s Diversity & Equity Work Group provided three interactive workshops for the Affiliate Network at the monthly meeting in 2024. The workshop topics were based on surveys conducted at Widening the Circle Day (provided by the workgroup at Impact Week 2023) and a survey sent to the Affiliate Network post-Impact Week as to which topics would be most beneficial to their Affiliate.

March: Connection & Belonging workshop

May: Codeswitching & Masking workshop

Presenters: Brittenany Gillespie (Proof Alliance), Kendra Gludt (Proof Alliance), Shaneca Smith (Arkansas None for Nine)

July: Mindset & Widening the Aperture workshop

Presenters: Nathalie Brassard (FASCETS) and Kallio Hunnicutt-Ferguson (Emory University)

• ANEC’s Widening the Circle Work Group created a digital starter packet for Affiliates and provided a digital companion packet for each of the workshops
• The Arkansas Affiliate None for Nine provided a workshop for Affiliates on Widening the Circle with your Board, provided by David Deere and Shaneca Smith, at the June Affiliate Monthly Meeting. Shaneca is one of the work group’s Co-Chairs.
• ANEC’s Widening the Circle Work Group adopted the name Widening the Circle Work Group at the end of 2024.
• A subgroup of the Widening the Circle Work Group submitted a proposal to present on Addressing FASD: Working With and Learning From Indigenous Communities at FASD United’s International Conference on FASD in Seattle in March 2025. The proposal was accepted.
